Tools and Techniques

Strengthen the operational and legal framework

In this section we are defining the supportive framework for collaboration. The framework provides guidance to companies participating in collaboration projects. It consists of a wide range of available methodologies enabling companies to for example select and collect the necessary data, calculate expected gains and effects on service, define a business case, select the most promising field of collaboration, give proven options on making a fair distribution of costs and gains, etc. The toolset consists of decision support models, as well as training and workshops in the field.

Moreover a generic legal framework is developed: first under Dutch law and later expanded under other jurisdictions. Currently no legal precedence is available. The framework is necessary to cover the possible legal issues that can occur when collaborating such as: liability, damage, competition law, and also to make it easy for companies to capture their agreements in a contract. The framework of tools and technologies will be applied and validated in the case studies in the Logistics Laboratory and will also capture insights from the Collaborative Business Models to make the tools and technologies fit for practice.
